“And into the woods I go to lose my mind and find my soul”.

The Dreamery Hideaway has introduced thousands of people to woodland glamping breaks over the years and we want you to have a great time and that does mean coming with a sense of adventure and realistic expectations. We’re not a proper resort – not by a long shot. It’s a world away from a boutique hotel and that’s just the way we like it – but it’s not for everyone.

You have comfort, but you are essentially outside, close to nature. In Britain, nature means cold, dark, rain, mud and sometimes blistering sunshine, come prepared for it all. This woodland venue is a 100% no frills escape from most electronica where you can enjoy Shinrin – Yoku or Forest Bathing

Lighting

Most guests come to Jollydays to escape the tyranny of technology, but please be aware that because we’re an
eco-camp there is very little electricity and lighting is limited. (A local authority planning condition is no outside lights so as not to disturb insects and thus bats). It will be darker in the woods on cloudy days and spring and autumn – that’s how you reconnect with the rhythms of nature. The bothies have lighting, but you may want to bring a lantern or torch if you’re moving about at night in the woods. We have a hair drier onsite and charging facilities in the communal areas, so it’s not too austere!

The light streaming through the trees, it was so romantic

Top tip; don’t wander off for a walk in the woods in summer with the lights on and the door open (you’d be surprised how often this happens) you’ll come back to accommodaton full of moths and other insects….

When to come

Whenever the fancy takes you!…

Dogs

Well behaved dogs on leads (so as not to scare all the wildlife) are more than welcome! Please let us know you’d like to bring your four-legged friend before arrival!

Arrival and departure

Arrival 4:30pm  (sometimes we are ready earlier but you can text the camp phone on the day to check).

Departure 10:30am.

Where to visit

This section is being updated – please check back soon!

What should I bring?

Things you might want to bring:  Towels, torch, clothes, shampoo and other personal cleaning products, food and drink, slippers, wellies and a good pair of shoes. You may also want to bring insect repellent in the summer. You can also bring your own logs for the wood burners if you wish although we sell kiln dried logs.

Can we get a supermarket shop delivered?

Yes – no problem but please make sure you use the same name as the booking is under, otherwise it’s the devil of a job marrying the right shopping with the right people! give them your mobile number

Can we hire the whole venue?

You certainly can and many do. For weddings, family gatherings, hen dos, birthdays and off beat corporates…

Directions finding us...

We don’t get post delivered to site (what joy!) so that means no specific post code. The nearest post code is
YO41 1LH and it takes you to the wood mill at the corner of the woods. As you face the mill go right, past the turn for Sand Hutton and our entrance tack is about 400m on the left.

Don’t come to the office address as it’s many miles from the venue.

We are on google maps and best is what3words = unlocking.obtain.exhales

Parking

Yes we have free parking. On arrival / departure you can park close to your accommodation for unloading / loading (not on the grass verges please!) and then park in one of the parking spaces to keep the track clear in case of emergencies and keep the woodland views free of cars.

How can I get to you from York railway station?

We recommend a taxi. Streamline 01904 656565 know where the venue is (quote Jollydays as they may be confused by the name change). Or you can take a number 10 bus from near the station to Stamford Bridge and then it is a 1.5mile walk.

Phone charging

There are USB ports in the bothies, bath house  and in the reception hut.

Electricity?

Electricity is very limited in the woods so please don’t bring stuff that uses a lot of juice. It may trip the electric for the whole camp (which also affects the water pumps and you may need to wait for some time before power is restored and upset fellow guests…

Water

Water is fresh drinking water off the mains.

Wildlife

It’s everywhere and up close and personal (if your not making a lot of noise). If nature is your thing this is the place, if it’s not a hotel might better suit your needs.

Camp fire / clay oven / wood logs

We have a camp fire and nearby a large clay oven for pizzas and other goodies.  We sell kiln dried logs for the wood burners I the accommodation and it can be used in the pizza oven.

Marquee hire

For larger groups we do have a marquee with seating and lights that we hire at minimal cost for groups to gather in.  Email us to arrange.

Access to the Dreamery Gardens, café and museum - Englands lost fairy gardens

Gardens

Hideaway guests can wander the gardens even when closed to the public. (there may be some restrictions say if we are chainsawing).

Café and museum

Nearby in the woods is our very own woodland kitchen and bar – yay! And just a couple of minutes stroll through the woods from the camp. Please check opening times and days as depending on the time of year it has limited opening.

For larger parties we can open by arrangement. You’ll find a cosy, stylish, and of course, rustic vibe, serving a great flat white and a wide range of teas, soft drinks as well as bottled local beers, wines and woodland cocktails. This is shaping up to be somewhere totally unique and very special, casual but with a stunning interior and bar, and covered tree trunk verandas,

Check opening times for the café and museum because it is not open every day to the public and is closed when closed to the public.

Can I have my wedding at the Dreamery Hideaway?

We do not offer legal marriage ceremonies; however, many couples choose to celebrate their wedding at The Dreamery. More information can be found here .
